The project generated technical evidence on the performance of UraFood technology for the safe washing of plant-based products. This work was carried out in a context where the parametric values established by Royal Decree 3\/2023 for water intended for human consumption are frequently used as operational reference values by industry, despite not having been designed for that purpose. This may hinder the adoption of water reuse or recirculation systems even when the final product complies with applicable legislation.<\/p>
The results are consistent with the approach set out by EFSA in its scientific opinions published in January 2025, which support assessing process-water quality according to the fit-for-purpose principle.
