Project results<\/h3>

The project has generated evidence on the variability of coffee silverskin and the potential risks associated with its consumption, a necessary step towards its use as an ingredient.<\/p>

As this by-product is classified as a novel food under Regulation (EU) 2015\/2283, its placing on the market requires authorisation from the European Commission.<\/p>

The work carried out within the Sandbox identified two key steps before submitting the regulatory dossier to EFSA for assessment: standardising the processes used to obtain the ingredient in order to ensure consistency, and clearly defining its intended uses.
